Happy Halloween!
Halloween
All Hallows Even American children spend an important part of Halloween making faces in pumpkins
by removing the pulp and seeds and cutting holes for the eyes, nose and a mouth
with three big teeth.
They put a candle inside the pumpkin and the light shines through the
holes in a frightening way. These pumpkins are called Jack- O'- Lanterns.
Dressed as witches, ghosts, skeletons and pirates the children go from house to
house shouting "Trick or Treat!". This means that if the people of the house don't
give them a "treat" - generally candies, cakes or apples - they will play "tricks" on
them. The result is that children go home late at night with more candy that they can
carry!
